As a Data Scientist / Artificial Intelligence / Machine Learning / AI/ML Scientist, you will work with a highly innovative and vibrant team of Data Scientists, machine learning engineers, and data engineers in developing the next generation AI/ML enabled business solutions for Vanguard. You will apply your analytics, artificial intelligence, and machine learning knowledge to create next generation solutions for our business partners in corporate services area, including risk, financial fraud, legal, finance, and IT areas, to drive ground-breaking changes. Duties would include, but not limited to:

  • Performs deep dive diagnostic, predictive, and prescriptive analytics to support data-driven business decision making.
  • Supports and performs the development and programming of machine learning integrated software algorithms to structure, analyze, and leverage data in a production environment.
  • Leads and implements & investigate diagnostic, predictive, and prescriptive analytics to support data-driven business decision making. Mentors and develops junior data scientists and analysts

The top 3 critical skills required of the role:

  • AIML development skills (python) in natural language processing including but not limited to, semantic search, unsupervised or semi-supervised search, LLMs for information extractionAttrition prediction or other customer experience evaluative modelingSophisticated analytic problem solving skills

    • able to identify multiple methods to solve a problems and compare those methods analytically to determine the best solution methods

    • Sophisticated statistical skills related to market experimentation, A/B testing, multi-armed bandits, and creating appropriate experimental designs while adjusting for biases in dataupport the development of multiple AIML models to collect customer feedback from unstructured data sources, identify frequency and magnitude of client issues, and support problem fixes and/or digital interventions such as marketing or website nudges.

    Desirable background includes:

    • AWS cloud architecture experience
    • Experience testing and comparing multiple LLMs and combining LLMs in sophisticated model systems
    • Experience with knowledge graphs or creating feature stores

    QUALIFICATIONS

    • Minimum of five years related work experience in analytical roles. Experience with data wrangling required - Programming skills to access, transform and prepare large scale data for statistical modeling. Experience applying statistical and machine learning methods required.
    • Undergraduate degree in Analytics, Applied Mathematics, Economics, Statistics or related analytical field of study or equivalent combination of training and experience. Graduate degree preferred.
    Responsibilities

    CORE RESPONSIBILITIES

    1. Develops sophisticated queries and performs extensive programming to access, transform, and prepare data for statistical modeling.
    2. Leads and drives deep dive diagnostic, predictive, and prescriptive analytics to support data-driven business decision making. Mentors and develops junior data scientists and analysts.
    3. Identifies and diagnoses data inconsistencies and errors, documents data assumptions, and forages to fill data gaps.
    4. Engages with internal partners to understand and probe business processes in order to develop hypotheses. Brings structure to requests and translates requirements into an analytic approach.
    5. Guides test design, research design, and model validation. Provides statistical consultation services. Serves as the analytics expert on cross functional teams for large critical initiatives and contributes to the growth of the Vanguard analytic community.
    6. Prepares and delivers insight presentations and action recommendations. Communicates complex analytical findings and implications to business leaders.
    7. Participates in special projects and performs other duties as assigned.
