Description
SAIC is currently seeking a Data Scientist Technical Intern at Rock Island Arsenal, IL. The Data Scientist Technical Intern will be responsible for but not limited to the following duties: Provide quantitative and qualitative analytical capabilities in advanced methodological approaches and advanced business process optimization. Leverage the latest techniques in data using the Army Vantage data analytics platform built on Palantir's Foundry with cloud computing and distributed computing. Provide advanced analytic solutions from data pipelines to decision focused advanced analytic solutions. Assist the client in identifying complex challenges and incorporating analytic techniques to develop comprehensive solutions. Stretch your wings while researching and implementing techniques in data engineering, data visualization, statistics, linear optimization, discrete event simulations, network graph analysis, and machine learning. Work on a team of analytic professionals to create enterprise level solutions. Train and educate front end users on data literacy and analytic tools. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: AA Degree in related discipline (Computer Science, Data Science, or Business Analytics) and one year of related experience; High School and two (2) years of related experience. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS: Demonstrated experience with the Python programming language Demonstrated experience using Microsoft Office Suite Proficiency in basic computer skills, virtual meeting, and using cloud-based tools. Solid work experience with customers/resolving issues while meeting schedule requirements. Must possess good oral and written communications skills. Must be motivated, adaptable, and flexible. Excellent organizational and follow-up skills with strong attention to detail. Ability to encourage, inspire, and participate in teamwork. CLEARANCE: Ability to obtain and maintain an active Secret security clearance; Interim Secret to start work on the contract; U.S. citizenship required DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS: Python programming language using PySpark and Pandas Relational database concepts Structured Query Language (SQL) R programming language (tidyverse) Microsoft Office PowerPoint and SharePoint Demonstrated ability to take a business problem and work towards a more efficient solution like Lean Six Sigma
