Utility Energy Services (UES) provides energy efficiency program implementation services to utilities across the U.S. We support the design, execution, and optimization of utility energy efficiency programs by leveraging data-driven insights and industry best practices.

POSITION OVERVIEW

UES is seeking a Data Solutions Engineer to join our growing Technology Solutions team. This is a role that blends data engineering, solution architecture, automation, and stakeholder collaboration. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical foundation and the ability to design, build, and scale data solutions that support both internal operations and client-facing programs.
This role is both hands-on and strategic. You will design and implement cloud-based infrastructure using Microsoft Azure, build automation workflows, collaborate across teams to translate business needs into technical solutions, and help shape the future of UES’s data systems.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Data Analytics, or a related field
  • 5+ years of experience in a technical data role such as Data Engineer, BI Engineer, or Solutions Analyst
  • Proven experience with Azure data services including Azure SQL, Data Factory, Data Lake, and related tools
  • Strong proficiency in SQL for querying, data modeling, and optimization
  • Proficiency in Python for data automation, transformation, and workflow scripting
  • Experience building Power BI dashboards or supporting reporting architecture
  • Familiarity with API integrations and cross-platform data orchestration
  • Strong communication and stakeholder collaboration skills, with experience translating business needs into technical solutions
  • Ability to work independently, own solution delivery, and contribute to long-term data strategy
    Job Type: Full-time
    Pay: $100,000.00 - $110,000.00 per year

Responsibilities
  • Design, build, and manage scalable Azure SQL Databases, Azure Data Lake Storage, and related cloud-based data infrastructure
  • Implement secure data access protocols and cloud storage best practices
  • Develop and maintain ETL/ELT pipelines using Azure Data Factory, Python, and SQL for both batch and real-time ingestion
  • Monitor pipeline performance and implement error handling, alerting, and logging mechanisms
  • Design and maintain data integration workflows with third-party APIs and internal platforms to enable seamless data exchange
  • Create and maintain automation tools and scripts using Python, Power Automate, or similar technologies to streamline data operations
  • Configure scheduled jobs, triggers, and task dependencies to ensure operational reliability
  • Partner with business users, analysts, and developers to gather requirements and design effective technical solutions
  • Translate business needs into actionable data models, automated workflows, and system designs using Azure services and Power Platform tools
  • Validate data accuracy, document pipeline architecture, and contribute to long-term platform scalability
