JOB SUMMARY

This post sits in Families Group. In Families Group our aim is to support every child and young person to be safer, healthier and happier. We lead on key legislation and guidance for families and children’s policies, across four directorates covering Children’s Care system and workforce, including safeguarding, Early Years and childcare, and educational engagement.
We deliver programmes supporting children from birth to adulthood. This includes delivering Manifesto commitments on children’s social care, early years childcare and breakfast clubs in primary schools and our important contribution to delivering the Government’s Mission to break down barriers to opportunity. We work closely with policy and delivery partners across DfE, in other government departments, local authorities and service providers in the public, voluntary and private sectors.
This is an exciting time to join Families Group with significant reform programmes underway in both early years and childcare, and children’s social care, which will have a direct impact on the outcomes and wellbeing of children and their families. This role will sit in the Children’s Social Care directorate and will be critical in supporting the delivery of our Families Group mission. JOB DESCRIPTION

The postholder will be specifically responsible for:

  • Using technical skills to design and implement data solutions, from conception to go-live.
  • Developing and delivering automated services that are reliable, scalable, and secure.
  • Balanced reporting on performance to internal and external stakeholders including the Children’s Social Care portfolio report, ministerial submissions and contributing to ad hoc requests.
  • Assisting in the production of advice for our Governance forums on progress against key commitments.
  • Engaging with reporting leads from the department to build the regular reporting capability and influence, while being sensitive to the challenges different audiences face.
  • Maintaining an organised approach to planning to support the achievement of short-, medium- and long-term goals.
  • Have a proactive approach to learning, specifically within the portfolio.

You will have a passion for delivering change and the personality to lead and influence people throughout the Department.

As a Data Solutions & Reporting Analyst you will be required to:

  • Think strategically, spotting cross-cutting issues and opportunities for improved performance.
  • Have excellent analytical skills required for digesting and filtering of large amounts of information
  • Assist in the production of internal dashboards through Power-Bi for governance forums.
  • Build and maintain strong stakeholder relationships that are based on openness and trust.
  • Constructively challenge teams within the Department.
  • Think pragmatically about the interventions that will develop join-up and promote efficiency and how they will be received by staff.

ESSENTIAL CRITERIA:

We’re looking for you to demonstrate your experience in:

  • Implementing data solutions, using programming languages/software within Power BI & Power Apps.
  • End-to-end development and implementation of data solutions.
  • Data Analysis.
  • Visualising Data.
  • Communication Skills.
