Summary of position Elevate Aviation Group is seeking a dynamic Data Steward to join our technology team in a unique dual role that blends data governance leadership with hands-on application development. This position is ideal for an emerging data professional who wants to shape data strategy while actively building their data science capabilities in a fast-paced aviation technology environment. You'll work directly with our engineering team to establish robust data management frameworks for our client-facing platforms and internal systems, while simultaneously developing your technical skills in data analysis, visualization, and advanced analytics. As both a governance leader and active development team member, you'll have the opportunity to see the immediate impact of your data standards and quality initiatives on real-world aviation software products. Essential duties & responsibilities Collaborates with various stakeholders to define and implement data management strategies, policies, and governance frameworks Establishes and enforces data standards, naming conventions, and data classification frameworks Conducts data profiling and analysis to assess the quality, completeness, and accuracy of data assets Implements and monitors data governance processes, including data access controls, data retention policies, and data life cycle management Collaborates with IT teams to ensure proper data synchronization across systems Develops data governance training programs to increase data literacy and educate stakeholders on data management practices Ensures data is deemed fit for purpose by developing data quality rules and regularly auditing data Participates in the development of data policies, including data retention, data privacy, data use, and data regulations Develops policies and procedures to ensure appropriate access rules are in place and access groups are defined and maintained Helps to identify, report, analyze, and resolve data issues related to uniqueness, integrity, accuracy, consistency, and completeness Requirements Knowledge, Skills & Abilities- Strong understanding of data management concepts, data governance frameworks, and data quality principles Proficiency in data profiling and data analysis techniques using tools like SQL, Excel, or data profiling software Familiarity with metadata management and data dictionary tools Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills to identify and resolve data quality issues Ability to effectively and persuasively communicate technical standards, practices, and initiatives to drive data governance throughout the organization Familiarity with data-related technologies and tools such as ETL, data warehouses, and data lakes Knowledge of data visualization and reporting tools such as Tableau, Power BI, and Looker Data analysis and manipulation skills through data science languages/tools such as Python, R, JavaScript, and SQL Education & Experience- A bachelor’s degree in computer science, data analytics, software engineering, information technology, or related field At least four years of experience in master data management, data analytics, data engineering, or a related area Schedule & Travel- Standard business hours are expected in this role. Ability to travel as required up to 10% Miscellaneous- FLSA Status- Exempt Lifting requirements- Up to 20 lbs U.S. work authorization is a precondition of employment.
