The Canadian Personal Banking (CPB) Data Governance team is seeking a detailed oriented Data Steward to support delivery and oversight of data management activities for CPB. The ideal candidate will assist in maintaining data quality, monitoring data management standards and support key data initiatives across the segment.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES INCLUDE:
- Understands the value of data as a strategic enterprise asset and has shown unwavering commitment to implement data-driven strategy to improve TD’s operations.
- Possess a strong knowledge of their Business Segment / Corporate Function as well as TD; have strong understanding of data interdependencies (including key internal business processes and applications) across the Business Segments / Corporate Functions and have a strong ability to apply that knowledge in driving towards a shared understanding and use of data across TD.
- Possesses a strong understanding of Data Management processes and best practices.
- Understands data and TD systems including current use cases and challenges.
- Possesses a strong understanding of data governance principles, policies, and procedures.
- Demonstrates a strong proficiency in analyzing data processes, as well as designing, developing, and implementing oversight mechanisms for data processes.
- Demonstrates a strong proficiency in tracking and reporting effectiveness and implementation metrics.
- Possesses deep experience in leading change, driving accountability, and obtaining commitment to implement a strategic direction applied to Data Management.
- Provide guidance to the Business on identification of critical data and critical data elements.
- Provide guidance and oversight on the business’ metadata management, data quality and retention and disposition tasks.
- Act as a SME and/or research and analyze data issues, remediate and implement changes in various data councils and other forums on behalf of their business.
- Provide specialized data governance / management advice / support to management / leadership and respective teams for area(s) of specialization with industry, external and internal, enterprise and business awareness; understand trends, identify issues and opportunities and provide recommended action to management.
- Identifying, measuring, and monitoring current and emerging data governance and management-related risks within the business.
- Overseeing appropriate testing of data controls.
- Communication of data risk program updates and developments.
- Support “Data in Change” initiatives with data management needs.
- For change programs, performing post-implementation review for data management compliance
EXPERIENCE & EDUCATION:
- Proficiency in Python (including Pandas, NumPy, Scikit-learn, TensorFlow, PyTorch, and PySpark) and SQL (writing complex queries, stored procedures, and data extraction).
- Experience with cloud-based data and AI/ML platforms (e.g., Azure, AWS, or GCP) would be and asset.
- Experience with Collibra Platform would be an asset.
- Proficiency in tools like Power BI, Tableau, or similar platforms to create impactful visualizations and dashboards.
- Strong communication (verbal and written) and collaboration skills, with the ability to synthesize thoughts in a clear and concise manner.
- Ability to plan, manage and prioritize multiple responsibilities while meeting tight deadlines.
- Ability to work with ambiguity and uncertainty.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work with large amounts of data and be forthcoming with solutions.
- Well-developed interpersonal and negotiation skills.
