Description

We are recruiting for a new role as a Data Strategy & Governance Lead.
This new role is designed to support the execution of our data governance and strategy initiatives. In this position, you will report to the Data Strategy & Governance Senior Manager and play an essential role in maintaining the Data & Analytics roadmap, managing demand intake, overseeing data cataloguing, and facilitating governance processes.
Your primary focus will be on ensuring the seamless operation of data strategy and governance initiatives, providing operational support, and aligning our efforts with business objectives, regulatory requirements, and AXA Group’s overarching data vision.
At AXA we work smart, empowering our people to balance their time between home and the office in a way that works best for them, their team and our customers. You’ll work at least 40% of your week away from home, moving to the majority of your working week from September 2025. Away from home means either attendance at one of our office locations, visiting clients or attending industry events.

Responsibilities
  • Develop and enforce data governance policies that enhance customer trust, transparency, and data protection.
  • Collaborate with business units to ensure ethical management of customer data in compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Maintain and track the Data & Analytics Roadmap to align initiatives with business strategy.
  • Manage the demand intake process for data-related requests, ensuring proper prioritization, documentation, and tracking.
  • Assist in the governance framework by supporting policy execution, compliance tracking, and reporting.
  • Help manage and maintain AXA Ireland’s data catalogue, ensuring metadata accuracy and currency.
  • Work with data owners and stewards to ensure consistent metadata management and data governance adoption.
  • Foster strong relationships with stakeholders across the business and IT to support governance processes and drive a data-driven culture.

Your Profile

  • 5+ years’ experience in a data governance, data strategy, business analysis, or related role, within a large organisation, experience in financial services, insurance, or other regulated industries would be beneficial.
  • A minimum of a primary degree with a significant mathematical and statistical element, with a certification in data governance, data management, or business analysis (e.g., DAMA CDMP, Collibra Ranger Certification) beneficial.
  • Proven experience in supporting data governance processes, including data cataloguing, metadata management, and demand intake.
  • Strong understanding of data analytics concepts such as predictive modelling, data visualization, and data storytelling & familiarity with data governance tools (e.g., Collibra, Informatica, Alation) & exposure to AI governance, data ethics, or emerging data trends.
  • Familiarity with the data lifecycle management, from discovery to delivery of insights.
  • Knowledge of data management tools and practices, including metadata management, data lineage, and data quality frameworks.
  • Excellent organizational and coordination skills, with experience in managing roadmaps, project plans, or demand intake processes.
  • Understanding of data privacy regulations (e.g., GDPR) and governance frameworks (e.g., DAMA-DMBOK).
  • Strong collaboration skills across business and IT teams, with exceptional communication and stakeholder management abilities.
  • Ability to simplify complex data insights for non-technical audiences.

As a precondition of employment for this role, you must be eligible and authorized to work in Ireland and/or the United Kingdom.
