PERSON SPECIFICATION

We are looking for someone with the ability to work well within a team and communicate effectively across all directorates. As a Data Strategy Support Officer, you will work pro-actively and effectively to feed information upwards to senior leaders. The successful candidate will be able to take initiative and support change and improvement in our data landscape and capabilities.

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Experience of working in a data analysis role within an administration and/or project environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Good organisational skills to work independently and as part of a team to meet deadlines.
  • The ability to deliver at pace and manage competing priorities.
  • Good analytical skills to be able to produce recommendations based on evidential conclusions.
  • Experience of building and maintaining strong interpersonal relationships with a wide range of stakeholders at all levels.
  • Demonstrate good IT skills in Microsoft Office applications such as Excel and PowerPoint

DATA STRATEGY SUPPORT OFFICER – ROLE OVERVIEW

The Valuation Office Agency (VOA) have launched an ambitious data strategy and we need you to help implement it. We are looking for someone with good analytical ability, who is organised and has good project management and stakeholder skills to fill the Data Strategy Support Officer role.
The role of the Data Strategy Support Officer sits within the Data Strategy, Management and Disclosure team. The successful candidate will report to the Senior Data Strategy Advisor and support with the implementation of the VOA’s new ambitious data strategy.
As Data Strategy Support Officer, you will provide an enabling role for the delivery of the complex data projects and programmes that we currently have underway. The role holder will work with stakeholders across all directorates to compile and maintain documents which track the status of existing and upcoming data improvement activities in each business area.
This is an exciting opportunity for the successful candidate to develop their career in the analytical and data field, gain great exposure to stakeholders and contribute to rewarding projects across the business.

DATA STRATEGY SUPPORT OFFICER – KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Coordinate and support the delivery of the Data Strategy and related projects by liaising with stakeholders to gather updates and maintain progress tracking tools.
  • Organise and provide secretariat support for governance and project meetings, including scheduling, agenda setting, minute-taking, and action tracking.
  • Maintain and update the Data Strategy activity tracker, building strong working relationships across business areas to ensure accuracy and completeness.
  • Contribute to regular reporting and presentations for internal stakeholders by synthesising updates and insights from across the organisation.
  • Analyse programme activities to identify gaps, risks, and opportunities for improvement, and support the development of recommendations.
  • Support the implementation and maintenance of the data governance framework, including support for data ownership and stewardship roles.
  • Maintain the RACI matrix for data roles and ensure it reflects current responsibilities and accountabilities.
  • Act as a liaison between data owners, stewards, and technical teams to support consistent application of data standards and definitions.
  • Lead on specific workstreams related to the Data Strategy, with guidance from the Data Strategy Senior Adviser.
