The Data System Junior Administrator is part of the team responsible for supporting the NYS Senate’s Microsoft 365 environment and Data Network Systems. The Data System Junior Administrator, under the direction of senior staff, will work to resolve issues assigned by senior IT and help desk staff. They will be tasked with implementing new or upgraded technologies & capabilities in support of organizational objectives, ensuring the NYS Senate is maintaining an optimal operational posture. The Data Systems Junior Administrator will also work with – and be a technical resource for – other Senate technology personnel, central staff teams, external vendors, and other Senate offices as needed to ensure a high level of quality for all the responsibilities within their scope.

EXPERIENCE:

· 1–3 minimum years of experience in a technical support or systems administration role.
· Hands-on experience with Microsoft 365 administration (Exchange Online, SharePoint, Teams, OneDrive).
· Basic PowerShell scripting skills for automation and bulk administration tasks.
· Familiarity with Microsoft Entra ID.

DESIRABLE SKILLS AND/OR WORKING KNOWLEDGE IN THE FOLLOWING TECHNOLOGIES:

· Active Directory in a hybrid environment.
· Windows Virtual Server administration and backup procedures.
· VMWare administration experience.
· Microsoft 365 or Azure administration certification.

· Handle Tier 1 M365 requests (adding and removing accounts, creating shared mailboxes, name changes, break/fix issues, etc.).
· Review and process email quarantine and spam filter requests via Microsoft Defender or Exchange Admin Center.
· Monitor and resolve Entra Connect synchronization issues between on-premises AD and M365.
· Perform basic VMWare administration.
· Utilize Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager (SCCM) for administering desktops for updates.
· Other duties as assigned by Senior Network and Security Engineers or Technology Managers.
· On-call support, minimal statewide travel, and limited additional hours and weekend/holiday work may be required.
