JOB SUMMARY

We are seeking an experienced Data Warehouse Architect to design and implement scalable, high-performance data warehouse solutions tailored to the unique needs of the healthcare industry. The Data Warehouse Architect will play a critical role in transforming healthcare data into actionable insights, supporting data-driven decision-making across clinical, operational, and financial departments. This role requires strong technical expertise, a deep understanding of healthcare data, and the ability to design complex data architectures that ensure data integrity, security, and compliance with industry regulations.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Data Science, or related field. A Master’s degree is a plus.
  • 7+ years of experience in data warehousing, ETL development, and data architecture, preferably within the healthcare industry.
  • Experience with Big Data technologies such as Hadoop, Spark, or Hive.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & PROFICIENCIES

  • Strong understanding of healthcare data types and standards, including HL7, FHIR, ICD, CPT, and other medical coding and interoperability standards.
  • Experience with healthcare-specific databases and systems such as Epic, Cerner, or other EHR/EMR platforms.
  • Expertise in data modeling (star/snowflake schemas) and database design principles.
  • Proficiency in ETL tools such as Informatica, Talend, or SSIS.
  • Experience with cloud-based data warehousing solutions such as AWS Redshift, Google BigQuery, or Snowflake.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic healthcare environment.
  • Knowledge of machine learning and advanced analytics in healthcare.
  • Experience with business intelligence tools like Tableau, Power BI, or Qlik.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

This position works under usual office conditions. The employee is required to work at a personal computer as well as be on the phone for extended periods of time. Must be able to stand, sit, walk and occasionally climb. The incumbent must be able to work extended and flexible hours and weekends as needed. Physical demands include ability to lift up to 50 lbs. Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Architect and Design Data Warehousing Solutions:
  • Design and implement the overall architecture for the healthcare data warehouse, including data modeling, data integration, and ETL processes.
  • Create scalable, high-performance solutions to process and store large volumes of structured and unstructured healthcare data (e.g., EHR, claims, clinical trials, financial, and operational data).
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure that the data architecture aligns with business requirements and supports reporting, analytics, and decision-making needs.
  • Data Integration and ETL Development:
  • Design and build robust ETL pipelines to integrate data from various sources, such as electronic health records (EHRs), claims systems, clinical databases, and third-party providers.
  • Ensure data consistency, quality, and accuracy throughout the ETL processes by implementing data validation, cleansing, and transformation rules.
  • Data Governance and Compliance:
  • Establish and maintain data governance practices to ensure the integrity, security, and privacy of healthcare data in compliance with industry standards and regulations such as HIPAA.
  • Develop data security measures, including encryption and access control, to protect sensitive patient information.
  • Performance Tuning and Optimization:
  • Continuously monitor and optimize the performance of the data warehouse to ensure fast query response times and efficient resource utilization.
  • Implement indexing, partitioning, and other performance optimization techniques as needed.
  • Collaboration and Leadership:
  • Work closely with data scientists, business analysts, and IT teams to translate business requirements into scalable and effective data models and architectures.
  • Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior data engineers and developers, ensuring adherence to best practices and architectural standards.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Supervises, trains, provides work direction, and problem-solving assistance for the Data Warehouse Team Members
  • Enforce the Architecture design across the Data Warehouse Developers Team
  • Helps planning and estimating features and development time
  • Reviews and address problems in other Data Warehouse Developers produced Code
