JOB SUMMARY:

We are seeking an experienced Data Warehouse Architect to join our G&C Business Solutions Group. This is a pioneering role that reports directly to the Director of Software Engineering. The successful candidate will be instrumental in designing, implementing, and maintaining a scalable data warehouse solution that consolidates data from a variety of software applications. This data warehouse will empower business users to perform ad hoc analyses independently while also supporting our software engineering team in developing data-driven applications.
We are specifically looking for candidates with proven experience in building data warehouses from the ground up. Ideal candidates will not only bring technical expertise but also the perspective gained from overcoming challenges and setbacks throughout the development process. EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION REQUIRED:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or significant experience in a related field;
  • Experience:
  • 7+ years of experience in data warehousing, data architecture, and data modeling.
  • Proven track record of designing and implementing large-scale data warehouses.
  • Experience with ETL tools and processes.
  • Familiarity with IBM iSeries systems, DB2, and Microsoft SQL Server. o Experience integrating data from heterogeneous systems.
  • Technical Skills:
  • Proficiency in data modeling techniques (both logical and physical).
  • Strong understanding of metadata management and data labeling.
  • Knowledge of data governance and data quality best practices.
  • Experience with BI tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau, Cognos).
  • Understanding of temporal data alignment and time-series data management.
  • Soft Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a cross-functional team environment.
  • Self-motivated with a proactive approach to identifying and solving problems.
  • Preferred Qualifications:
  • Industry Experience: Experience in the foodservice distribution industry.
  • Technical Expertise: Knowledge of RPG programming language helpful but not required.
  • Experience with cloud-based data warehousing solutions (e.g., AWS Redshift, Azure Synapse Analytics).
  • Familiarity with big data technologies (e.g., Hadoop, Spark).
  • Certifications: Relevant certifications in data management or data warehousing.

  • Support Business Intelligence: Enable self-service BI by integrating tools that allow business users to perform ad hoc analyses without IT intervention.
  • Collaborate with Teams: Work closely with IT professionals, software engineers, business analysts, project managers, EDI specialists, and instructional designers within the G&C Business Solutions Group.
  • Technical Leadership: Provide guidance and best practices for data warehousing and analytics to the broader technology team.
