The Data Warehouse Developer II role will help evolve and maintain our enterprise data environment. This role sits at the core of our data strategy, designing, building, and optimizing the pipelines, data models, and structures that power analytics, reporting, and operational decision-making across the business.
The Data Warehouse Developer II works closely with senior developers, data engineers, and business analysts to translate requirements into robust data solutions. The role involves both building new components and enhancing existing ones, with a strong emphasis on performance, scalability, and reliability.
Ideal candidates will have solid experience with the Kimball methodology, dimensional modeling, and ETL development, coupled with hands-on knowledge of Azure cloud services such as Data Lake, Data Factory, Synapse, and Azure SQL Database. The ability to integrate data from multiple sources, both on-premise and cloud-based, is essential. Success in this role requires writing efficient SQL, working with large and complex datasets, ensuring data quality, and applying best practices for data governance and security in a collaborative, Agile environment.

Responsibilities

Data Modeling & Architecture

  • Assist in the design and implementation of data warehouse solutions using the Kimball methodology
  • Apply dimensional modeling concepts (star schema, slowly changing dimensions) to develop scalable data structures
  • Build and support dimensional models and data marts for business intelligence and reporting
  • Work with the architecture team to ensure alignment between physical models, logical models, and reporting needs

ETL Development & Data Processing

  • Develop, test, and maintain ETL pipelines in Azure using Data Factory, Synapse, and related services
  • Write and optimize SQL queries and stored procedures for data transformation and analysis
  • Integrate data from multiple sources, including APIs, flat files, SaaS platforms, on-premise databases, and cloud-based systems
  • Implement data validation and testing frameworks to ensure pipeline reliability and data accuracy

Orchestration & Automation

  • Develop, monitor, and troubleshoot job schedules and workflows in ActiveBatch to ensure timely and reliable data processing
  • Participate in CI/CD processes for data pipeline deployment and automation, leveraging tools such as Azure DevOps
  • Collaborate on workflow optimization to improve performance and reduce processing time

Data Quality, Security & Governance

  • Ensure data quality, integrity, and security throughout the data lifecycle
  • Assist in defining and enforcing data governance policies and best practices
  • Support adherence to data privacy, compliance, and access control policies, including audit readiness
  • Participate in data profiling and metadata management initiatives

Collaboration & Documentation

  • Collaborate with data engineers, analysts, and other stakeholders across business units (e.g., supply chain, finance, operations) to define requirements and deliver solutions
  • Create and maintain documentation for data models, ETL processes, data dictionaries, and job schedules
  • Monitor data refresh schedules and troubleshoot issues to maintain system reliability
  • Provide occasional knowledge transfer or training sessions to peers and business teams
