About JerseySTEM All JerseySTEM roles are pro-bono (unpaid) positions.JerseySTEM is a mission-driven professional network of pro-bono contributors dedicated to improving access to STEM education and career pathways for underserved middle school girls in New Jersey. Members contribute their professional skills and leverage their networks in service of the organization’s gender-equity agenda.Membership is a minimum six-month commitment of approximately six flexible hours per week and includes a $100 refundable deposit, returned after six months of active membership. K–12 educators, retirees, veterans, interns, and students are exempt from the deposit. Overview This is a pro-bono volunteer position. JerseySTEM is looking for talented professionals across our departments to commit time and energy as long-term engagement for our mission to provide STEM education to underrepresented middle school girls. The Data Analytics Head is responsible for coordinating the research, collection and organization of information related to schools, colleges or corporations, stored in spreadsheets and databases. (The Deputy Head supports and collaborates with the Data Analytics Head.) Responsibilities Manage a team of 2-10 analytics volunteers and interns who work on independent workstreams and/or tasks Understand stakeholder requirements and design projects/workstreams/tasks to deliver on the same Establish departmental guidelines, processes and documentation. Recruit, onboard and train new volunteers and interns. Mentor and guide - establish goals/targets for them and monitor performance. Coordinate weekly department meetings Participate to steering committee, board meeting and board committees as appropriate Qualifications Genuine concern about/interest in solving the gender gap and opportunity gap in education in general and STEM education in particular Bachelors/Masters degree in a quantitative field 8+ years work experience preferred Experience with different methods and toolsets (SQL, Python, Excel, Tableau) Experience analyzing data from 3rd party providers and open data sources: Google Analytics, DoE, Census Team management, training and mentorship experience Resourceful, lead by example Can-do attitude, ability to deal with ambiguity Ability to communicate technical concepts to a non-technical audience Present/work within East Coast time zone Average of 5-7 hours/week, 12 month minimum commitment This is a pro-bono volunteer position.
