REQUIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. (Preferred)
  • Proven experience as a Database Administrator, preferably in a defence or government environment.
  • Strong experience with SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS) for database management and administration.
  • Proficient in configuring and managing Internet Information Services (IIS).
  • Familiarity with database backup and recovery strategies
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and teamwork abilities.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience with OutSystems or other low-code application development platforms.
  • Knowledge of database security practices and compliance requirements in a defence context.
Responsibilities

ABOUT THE ROLE

Atos is looking for an experienced Database Administrator (DBA) to join our team supporting critical systems within the Australian Defence sector. This is a hands-on role where you’ll be responsible for maintaining, optimising, and securing databases that underpin key operations and ensuring high availability and performance. You are also required to work closely with the broader team to support critical defence operations.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Administer and maintain SQL Server databases using SSMS (SQL Server Management Studio), ensuring security, performance, and availability.
  • Configure and administer Internet Information Services (IIS) for hosting web applications.
  • Monitor database performance and troubleshoot issues to ensure high levels of availability and performance.
  • Perform routine maintenance, patching, and upgrades across database and server environments.
  • Partner with developers to optimise queries and enhance application performance.
  • Create and maintain clear documentation of database processes and configurations.
  • Stay up to date with industry trends and apply best practices in security and optimisation.
