Role - Database Administrator (MS SQL, DB2, PostgreSQL)
Location - Brisbane, Australia
Salary range: AUD 90,243 - 98,861 (Annual Gross)
JOB DESCRIPTION
The Database Administrator (DBA) with minimum 4 years of experience expertise in MS SQL, DB2, and PostgreSQL is responsible for the design, implementation, maintenance, and optimization of the organization’s database systems across multiple platforms. Ensure the security, availability, and integrity of data, optimize database performance, and support application development teams in database-related tasks.
Responsibilities:
- Database Maintenance and Optimization: Perform routine maintenance tasks such as backups, restores, index maintenance, and database consistency checks for MS SQL Server, DB2, and PostgreSQL databases. Monitor database performance, analyze query execution plans, and optimize database configurations for improved performance and scalability. Expertise in RDBMS S/W installation, database server builds, applying patches, upgrading, configuring, trouble shooting of SQL SERVER 2008R2/2012/2014/2016
- Data Backup and Recovery: Develop and maintain database backup and recovery strategies for MS SQL Server, DB2, and PostgreSQL databases. Test backup and recovery processes regularly to verify data integrity and minimize data loss in case of failure. Expertise in database Back Up, Restore, Recovery, Updating statistics, Rebuilding and Reorganizing indexes, Defrag Tables, Replication, Linked Servers and Database Maintenance Plan.
- Database Monitoring and Troubleshooting: Monitor database systems for performance, availability, and security issues using monitoring tools and alerts. Investigate and troubleshoot database-related incidents across MS SQL Server, DB2, and PostgreSQL platforms, identifying root causes and implementing corrective actions.
- Database Upgrades and Patch Management: Plan and execute database software upgrades, patches, and migrations for MS SQL Server, DB2, and PostgreSQL databases. Coordinate with application teams and system administrators to ensure compatibility and minimal disruption to business operations.
- Database Documentation: Maintain comprehensive documentation of database configurations, schemas, procedures, and policies for MS SQL Server, DB2, and PostgreSQL databases. Document changes and updates database objects, configurations, and security settings for audit and compliance purposes.
- Database Replication and High Availability: Configure and manage database replication, clustering, and high availability solutions across MS SQL Server, DB2, and PostgreSQL platforms to ensure data redundancy and failover capabilities. Implement disaster recovery plans and failover procedures to minimize downtime and data loss.
- Capacity Planning and Scalability: Monitor database growth and resource utilization trends across MS SQL Server, DB2, and PostgreSQL platforms, anticipating future capacity requirements. Recommend and implement upgrades and optimizations to support business growth and scalability objectives.
