Database Administrator
Full Time, Permanent role paying a salary of up to £45,000 depending on experience, plus great company benefits.
We are looking for a Database Administrator to work in our DBA team.
Our IT team are based in Exeter, the successful Database Administrator ideally needs to be located in the southwest of the UK.
We are eager to announce that for the right candidate, we are able to discuss this role being hybrid, remote or office based. Regular travel to the Exeter branch will be essential.
The Role
Due to workload increase we have a unique opportunity for an individual with prior experience seeking new challenges and broad Database Administration responsibility.
As a Database Administrator (DBA), your primary responsibility is to ensure the smooth operation, reliability, and security of the organisation’s database systems and data both on premise and hosted in cloud solutions. You will manage database installations, configurations, and maintenance tasks while providing support for database-related issues. Your role involves monitoring database performance, implementing backup and recovery solutions, and maintaining data integrity. Additionally, you will collaborate with developers and other IT staff to support database design, development, and troubleshooting efforts.
What will the Role involve?
You will work with the existing DBAs and wider IT teams to ensure that Microsoft SQL Server (MSSQL) database maintenance tasks are performed as described, including - but not limited to, the following:
There will be a requirement to be apart of an On Call rota, this will fall once every 3 weeks; running from 5pm – 11pm Monday to Friday and 7am to 11pm Saturday and Sunday, there is additional pay for this.
All our roles require candidates to have the entitlement to work within the UK, Mears- does not currently offer visa sponsorship.
Role Criteria
The successful Database Administrator must have professional demeanour, positive attitude, and excellent interpersonal, written and verbal skills in the English language.
You must be able to work well both independently and as a team member. Individual should be able to work well with a minimal level of supervision and have a proven ability to take initiative.
This is not only a reactive role when issues arise but a proactive role, having the autonomy to find the faults before the arise.
