POSITION OVERVIEW:

We are seeking an experienced Database Administrator (DBA) to support database operations, maintenance, security, and compliance in an AWS cloud environment. The DBA will be responsible for ensuring database performance, integrity, and availability while supporting application teams, managing security controls, and maintaining compliance with federal standards. This position requires strong hands-on experience, problem-solving skills, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, secure environment.

QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS

• 3–5+ years of hands-on experience administering major database platforms (SQL Server, PostgreSQL) in an AWS cloud environment.
• Proficiency in SQL, database tuning, and performance optimization techniques.
• Strong experience with backup/recovery procedures, high availability setups, and disaster recovery planning.
• Experience with database monitoring tools and performance analysis.
• Familiarity with scheduling, job management, and automation in database environments.
• Knowledge of database security principles, encryption methods, and access control frameworks.
• FISMA compliance experience or familiarity with federal security standards.
• Knowledge of vulnerability assessment tools and remediation processes.
• Experience preparing for audits and producing security documentation.
• Proven experience supporting application development teams and resolving database-related issues.
• Strong background in change management and documentation processes.
• Incident response experience, including vendor coordination and troubleshooting under pressure.
