Responsibilities

ABOUT THE ROLE:

We are seeking a skilled Database Administrator for a temp-to-hire, hybrid position with a state government agency. This role requires a blend of hands-on technical expertise and strategic thinking to guide database best practices, architecture decisions, and optimization initiatives for mission-critical systems.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the design, implementation, maintenance, and performance of enterprise-level database systems, ensuring high availability and consistent performance across all environments.
Please note: This is a hybrid role and candidates must be local to Metro Atlanta. This is a temp-to-hire position, and candidates must be US Citizens or Green Card holders.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Design, install, configure, and maintain enterprise-level database systems like SQL Server and Oracle.
  • Monitor database performance, tune queries and indexes, and manage storage to ensure optimal performance.
  • Ensure data integrity, security, and backup/recovery processes meet organizational and regulatory requirements.
  • Lead initiatives related to database migrations, upgrades, and consolidations.
  • Automate routine tasks using scripting languages such as PowerShell and shell scripting.
  • Collaborate with developers, analysts, and system administrators to support application development and data integration.
  • Participate in capacity planning and disaster recovery strategy development and testing.
  • Provide 24/7 support for mission-critical systems as needed.
