Koniag IT Solutions (KITS), a Koniag Government Services company, is seeking an experienced Database Administrator, with a TS/SCI clearance, to support our web application infrastructure. This role is critical to ensuring the performance, integrity, security, and availability of our databases that power mission-critical web applications.

The Database Administrator will be responsible for the design, implementation, maintenance, and performance optimization of databases supporting our web applications. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical foundation in database management with specific expertise in web application environments.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field
- 5+ years of experience as a Database Administrator supporting web applications
- Strong experience with relational database management systems (MySQL, PostgreSQL, SQL Server, Oracle)
- Experience with database design, implementation, and optimization for web-based environments
- Proven track record of maintaining high-performance database systems with minimal downtime
REQUIRED SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES:
- Extensive knowledge of SQL and Oracle with the ability to write complex queries, stored procedures, and triggers
- Proficiency in database performance tuning and query optimization techniques
- Experience with database backup, recovery, and high availability solutions
- Strong understanding of database security principles and implementation methods
- Knowledge of database replication, clustering, and failover strategies
- Experience with database monitoring tools and performance metrics analysis
- Understanding of web application data flows and database integration patterns
- Ability to automate routine database maintenance tasks using scripts
- Experience with data migration and database upgrade processes
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
- Excellent documentation skills
- Ability to work in fast-paced environments with changing priorities
- Strong communication skills to collaborate with technical and non-technical team members
- Experience with version control systems for database schema changes
- Possess and can maintain the required security clearance (TS/SCI).
DESIRED SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES:
- Familiarity with database ORM frameworks used in web applications
- Knowledge of data warehousing concepts and ETL processes
- Understanding of DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines for database changes
- Experience with database governance and compliance requirements
- Certifications in relevant database technologies (Oracle, Microsoft, MySQL, etc.)
- Experience with implementing database caching strategies for web applications
- Understanding of big data technologies and their integration with traditional databases
- Experience with database performance testing tools and methodologies
