About the Role:

The primary purpose of the position is to provide leadership in the design, development, deployment and implementation of databases. Responsibilities will include application data modeling, recommending logical, physical, and relational database designs, database integration, data migration strategies, database troubleshooting, performance tuning, while adhering to Citco Development Lifecycle Standards. Experience in Banking or Finance is desirable. This position will work with Business units and the Technology Group. Occasional travel may be required.

• Provide full-life cycle database design guidance to development teams to ensure quality technical deliverables.
• Develop SQL and procedural scripts as needed to assist in troubleshooting and fix development.
• Follow Citco database standards pursuant to data structures and models.
• Assure queries developed by programmers are properly designed for accuracy and performance.
• Analyze business requirements and design the data structures required to support those requirements, including the construction of physical databases used for application development.
• Maintain accurate and complete operational data dictionary, database schema in version control system and assure that the database schema and objects are consistent across Dev, UAT and Prod environments.
• Recommend indexes, hints and other database performance enhancing techniques where appropriate.
• Identify, with assistance of DBA team and their performance reports, areas where performance tuning is needed.
• Troubleshoot and recommend fixes for database related problems.
• Identify inconsistencies in queries and database schema objects impacting performance.
• Contribute as expert to technical strategy development expert in matters of database design, security and high availability.
• Contribute to enhancement and implementation of database security policy, strategy and implementation tactics related to access requirements by application users and support personnel.
• Document solutions and keep knowledgebase up to date to support efficiencies

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS:

• 5+ years experience troubleshooting databases related application support issues (defects and performance issues) in large scale, clustered, database environments
• 3+ years experience working as a data modeler where much time was spent analyzing data requirements and producing complete, accurate and fully documented data models using Data Modeling tools.
• 3+ years resolving Oracle tuning issues related to query plans, hints, indexes, views and effective use of built-in Oracle tuning capabilities
• 3+ years experience writing database procedural language scripts
• Ability to work cooperatively as part of a team as well as independently, under own initiative.
• Experience working independently on logical data models and development projects.
• Ability to plan, scope and provide estimates for work effort, producing quality deliverables on time and in budget.

• Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills and be able present diagnostic, troubleshooting steps and conclusions to a varied audience including both business and technical stakeholders
