Position Summary:
Database Engineer & Administrator:
A Database Engineer & Administrator is responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining the databases that store and organize data for an organization. This role combines the responsibilities of developing databases and administrating them to ensure they run efficiently, securely, and without interruption. A Database Engineer focuses more on creating databases, while a Database Administrator (DBA) manages the operational aspects of database systems.

As a Database Engineer & Administrator at Medido Health, you will play a crucial role in managing our database systems to ensure they are efficient, secure, and reliable. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Architecture design. Architect and optimize data architecture, integrating various databases, warehouses, and analytical systems.
ETL processes. Manage ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processes to collect, process, and store data in the company’s data warehouse.
Data pipeline management. Develop, maintain, test, and optimize data pipelines to automate data processes efficiently.
Machine learning model deployment. Deploy machine learning models into production environments in collaboration with data scientists.
Cloud management. Manage cloud-based services and tools on platforms such as AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud.
Data monitoring. Monitor data quality and performance across all data processes, ensuring smooth operation and optimization.
Design and develop database schemas, tables, and relationships based on application requirements.
Write and optimize complex SQL queries for performance and scalability.
Implement and maintain database security, including access controls, encryption, and compliance with regulatory requirements.
Monitor database performance and recommend improvements, including indexing strategies and query optimization.
Plan and implement database backup and recovery procedures to ensure data integrity and availability.
Troubleshoot and resolve database-related issues in a timely manner.
Stay current with database technology trends and developments, and recommend best practices for database design and administration.

REQUIREMENTS:

Minimum Degree and Years of Experience Required:
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field; or equivalent work experience.
Proven experience (5 years) as a Database Engineer, Database Administrator, or in a similar role.
Required Knowledge/Skills:
Strong proficiency in SQL and database management systems (e.g., SQL Server, MySQL, PostgreSQL).
Experience with distributed computing frameworks, such as Hadoop or Spark
Experience with cloud-based database services (e.g., AWS RDS, Azure SQL Database).
Experience with database design principles, normalization, and optimization.
Knowledge of database security best practices and data protection regulations (e.g., HIPAA, GDPR).
Hands-on experience with database performance tuning and monitoring tools.
Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
Effective communication skills, with the ability to convey complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
Preferred Skills:
Certification in database administration or related field (e.g., Oracle Certified Professional).
Experience with Object-oriented programming languages, like Python, Java, and Scala.
Familiarity with DevOps practices and tools for database automation and deployment (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).
Knowledge of NoSQL databases (e.g., MongoDB, Cassandra) and big data technologies.
Understanding of healthcare industry standards and compliance requirements.
Familiarity with Jenkins, Bitbucket, and GitHub.
Familiarity with Click-Up or Jira.
Work Location:

This position requires daily attendance at our office. Candidates must be able to commit to working on-site every day at the following location:
