JOB DESCRIPTION

The Database Engineer I designs, develops, and maintains organizational databases to ensure efficient storage, secure access, and reliable performance. This role works closely with team members to implement database solutions that meet business requirements and support day-to-day operations. The Database Engineer I monitors performance, applies updates, and assists with integration, tuning, and security measures to keep data accurate, accessible, and protected.

SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE

Ability to monitor databases, interpret alerts, and apply security best practices, Awareness of backup, recovery, and disaster recovery procedures, Basic skills in database testing, debugging, and performance assessment, Familiarity with scripting languages and SQL for database interaction, Knowledge of data conversion, integration, and mapping techniques, Microsoft SQL Server and database management systems (e.g. MySQL, PostgreSQL, Oracal), Understanding of database migration processes and basic data modeling concepts

QUALIFICATIONS

Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field; 0–2 years of related experience; familiarity with SQL, scripting, and RDBMS fundamentals.
Physical Requirements: Ability to operate a computer, keyboard, mouse, and other standard office equipment; able to clearly view and read information on a computer screen; occasionally lift or move items up to 15 pounds.
