This position is posted by Jobgether on behalf of a partner company. We are currently looking for a DATABASE ENGINEER II in the United States. This role offers the opportunity to manage, optimize, and secure enterprise-level Oracle databases in support of mission-critical operations. The Database Engineer will focus on ensuring high availability, performance, and compliance of complex database environments, including cloud-based and hybrid architectures. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, automate processes, troubleshoot issues, and contribute to capacity planning and disaster recovery strategies. This position combines technical expertise with operational responsibility in a dynamic, high-stakes environment. The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting long-term growth, system reliability, and security initiatives. \n Accountabilities: Install, configure, upgrade, and maintain Oracle 19c databases, including container and pluggable databases. Create, refresh, rebuild, and restore databases using RMAN, Data Pump, and related utilities. Manage database security, including Transparent Data Encryption (TDE), access controls, and compliance with cybersecurity standards. Monitor database health, perform performance tuning, query optimization, and proactive maintenance. Develop and maintain SQL, PL/SQL, and Linux shell scripts for automation and reporting. Support application teams with database-related issues and new feature implementations. Conduct capacity planning for storage, memory, and CPU resources to support growth and mission needs. Ensure compliance with STIGs, RMF, and NIST 800-171 standards in collaboration with stakeholders. Document database architecture, configurations, and processes for lifecycle support and future replication. Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related technical field. 4+ years of experience in database administration or engineering. Proficiency with Oracle 19c or similar enterprise-level databases. Strong SQL, PL/SQL, and scripting skills in Linux/Unix environments. Problem-solving mindset with attention to detail. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. U.S. Citizenship and an active Secret Clearance required. Preferred: 6+ years of experience in DoD or Navy environments, familiarity with cloud deployments (Azure), and understanding of cybersecurity compliance standards.
