Analyze project requirements from inception through Initial Operational Capability (IOC), creating database structures that align with overall system architecture while balancing data volume, user load, distribution, response times, retention rules, security, and domain controls. Working closely with software developers, systems engineers, and IT teams, you will translate requirements into usable queries, scripts, macros, and database tools. You will also assist in evaluating, optimizing, and maintaining databases, including cloud-based storage and Open Database Connectivity solutions, and provide recommendations for system improvements. You will be responsible for installing, patching, and maintaining Oracle Database environments, Oracle Enterprise Manager, and Oracle Data Guard, while leveraging Linux OS, commands, and Bash scripting. Experience with MongoDB is a plus. Required Skills: Extensive experience designing, developing, and implementing relational and/or Object-Oriented databases Proficiency with database parsers, query development, scripting, macros, and cloud database storage/retrieval Strong experience with Oracle Database, Oracle Enterprise Manager, Oracle Data Guard Linux OS proficiency, including commands and Bash scripting Experience evaluating and optimizing database systems for performance, security, and scalability Familiarity with MongoDB is desirable Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills Ability to work independently and collaboratively across teams Education/Experience: Ten (10) years of experience as a Database Engineer (DBE) in programs and contracts of similar scope, type, and complexity Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline from an accredited college or university is required; five (5) years of DBE experience may be substituted for a degree Experience in Information Assurance: DoD 8570.01-M compliance with Information Assurance Technical (IAT) Level II is required Clearance: TS/SCI clearance with polygraph is required.
