Database Engineer – Tietoevry Industry (m/f/d)
About the Role
We are seeking a Database Engineer with a strong focus on security, performance, and compliance. This role requires a high level of curiosity and a desire to explore the unknown, addressing issues that may not have been encountered before. You will be responsible for providing consultancy to other units, guiding them on database utilization, performance optimization, and efficiency improvements.
In this role, you will conduct deep-dive investigations into performance issues related to databases in highly intensive production workloads, collaborating with product teams to develop effective solutions. Your expertise will help us achieve our business goals in Cloud and SaaS, enabling other business units within Tietoevry Industry to create scalable and cost-efficient products in a cloud environment utilizing Azure and private cloud components.

About Our Team
You will be part of a world-class team with over 10 years of experience in managing production workloads in the public domain. Joining the Platform & Enablement team, which is part of the newly established Cloud and SaaS unit, you will support various business units in accelerating their cloud journey efficiently and scalably. Our Cloud and SaaS unit consists of two teams—Platform & Enablement and Operations—boasting over 200 years of collective cloud and SaaS experience.
Our team comprises highly skilled professionals who have worked with scalable infrastructure and Azure for the last decade, serving production workloads. With a strong focus on compliance and security, we have developed a self-service solution for legacy software, enabling business units to deploy new software versions efficiently and with a low error rate.
Key Responsibilities

As the Database Engineer, your key responsibilities will include:

• Developing and maintaining the Enterprise Scale Platform for secure, efficient, and scalable use of cloud platforms across business units and cloud operations.
• Guiding other business units on the efficient utilization of database engines.
• Ensuring security and privacy at the database server level, advising business units on high-level security and privacy within database designs.
• Optimizing database system performance and assisting product owners in resolving performance blockers.
• Ensuring robust backup and recovery policies and setups.
• Participating in security reviews and assessments of platforms and frameworks.
• Assisting with database migration and integration efforts as product owners transition between DBMS.

Requirements

We seek candidates who possess:

• Excessive knowledge of database management systems, particularly MS SQL, Postgres SQL, Azure SQL, Azure Postgres SQL and performance monitoring.
• Experience in database design and development.
• Expertise in query optimization.
• Solid understanding of data security and compliance.
• High-level problem-solving and analytical thinking skills.
• Strong communication and collaboration abilities.
• Preferably, practical and professional experience with Kubernetes/AKS.
