Description

Zachary Piper Solutions is seeking a Database Engineer to join a Federal Program working in Washington, DC. The Database Engineer will be designing, developing, and maintaining robust database solutions across relational and NoSQL platforms including Oracle, PostgreSQL, and MongoDB.

QUALIFICATIONS FOR THE DATABASE ENGINEER INCLUDE:

  • Proven experience as a PL/SQL Developer or similar role.
  • Strong grasp of database design principles, normalization, and performance optimization.
  • Proficient in:
    o Programming Languages: PL/SQL, VBA, HTML/CSS, UNIX Shell Scripting
    o Databases: MongoDB, Oracle, PostgreSQL (v8.4.x–9.5.x, 4+ years), MS SQL Server (3+ years), DynamoDB
    o Cloud Platforms: Pivotal Cloud Foundry (PCF), Oracle Enterprise Manager (OEM), Oracle Cloud Services (user-managed & co-managed)
    o GIS Tools: PostGIS

o Operating Systems: Solaris, Unix, Hyper-V Linux, Windows, Red Hat Linux, Oracle VM

  • Experience with Active Data Guard/Data Guard (5+ years) and GoldenGate (5+ years).
  • Familiarity with multi-tier architectures (3-tier, 2-tier, N-tier).
  • Strong understanding of network transport devices and their integration with encryption systems.
  • Security-focused mindset with experience in implementing secure database environments.
  • Excellent problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to work independently and in dynamic team environments.
  • Must have an Active U.S. Top Secret (TS) security clearance.
Responsibilities
  • Architect and develop complex database applications using PL/SQL.
  • Optimize SQL queries, procedures, functions, and packages for performance and reliability.
