Analyzes and quality-assures more complex fiber optic/fiber optic and structured cabling issues in racks, patch panels and cable trays.
Provides support with fiber optic quality testing and evaluates measurement protocols, e.g., OTDR or BER measurements, if required in operation; splicing work is not a core task, knowledge or coordination of relevant specialists is desirable.
Evaluates and coordinates structured cabling requirements, including requirements capture, cable type, source/destination port, cable routing, labeling, cable diagram, connectivity test, cable reset, replacement of defective cables and documentation with customer sign-off, as provided for in the process.
Documents infrastructure changes, cabling, measurement logs, technical evidence and implementation details in the ITSM, asset, CMDB or documentation system and ensures the quality of operational, rack, cabinet, cable, serial number and knowledge documentation.
Takes over coordination and quality assurance of spare parts and asset management within the local data center scope.
Supports local problem management, audit, compliance, reporting and service review activities by analyzing recurring error patterns, providing relevant evidence and translating improvements into SOPs, knowledge articles, CMDB, cable diagrams or operational documentation.
Provides technical support to L1 technicians for more complex tasks, escalations, or quality-critical implementations, and ensures that local work complies with access control, physical security, cyber security, data wipe, decommissioning, change, maintenance window, and customer requirements.
Proactively identifies opportunities for work optimization, standardization, automation and improvement of local service quality and, if required, undertakes technical project work, e.g. infrastructure modifications, hardware refresh, decommissioning, migrations, audit remediation, DR/BCP exercises or capacity/rack optimizations.
