The Alexandria Area YMCA is hiring a Seasonal Full-Time Day Camp Lead Staff to help lead our Day Camp program. Schedule & Pay Monday–Friday 7:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. $19.00-$21.00 per hour Seasonal Full-Time Non-Exempt Position No nights. No weekends. Just meaningful, rewarding work with kids. What You’ll Do As Day Camp Lead Staff, you will support the Youth Coordinator and help ensure a safe, engaging, and well-organized camp experience. You will: Supervise groups of children in both indoor and outdoor settings Assist in guiding and supporting Day Camp Counselors Lead culturally relevant, developmentally appropriate activities aligned with YMCA values Ensure the safety, supervision, and individual needs of all campers are met Build strong, positive relationships with campers, families, and staff Model leadership, teamwork, and positive relationship-building skills Follow all YMCA policies, including child abuse prevention, medical protocols, and emergency procedures Attend required staff meetings and trainings Maintain high standards of safety, cleanliness, and program quality This role requires solid judgment, initiative, and the ability to make independent decisions that impact the success of camp. Requirements Associate’s degree or two years of college preferred OR at least two years of Day Camp experience Experience working with children in large group settings Experience in outdoor recreation, sports, aquatics, games, music, or creative programming preferred Must be at least 18 years old CPR, First Aid, AED, and Child Abuse Prevention certifications (within 30 days of hire) Ability to work with diverse populations Strong communication and leadership skills What you will do This is an active role!
