Westbank is a well-established, award-winning charity supporting communities across Devon since 1986. From our vibrant Community Care and Healthy Living Centre in Exminster, we deliver a wide range of services, including Devon Carers, a community cookery school, an innovative gym, Kidzone childcare, and health programmes including the NHS Diabetes Prevention Programme.
Our Day Centre plays a vital role in the lives of older people – offering social connection, nutritious meals, stimulating activities, and essential support.

Responsibilities

As a Day Centre Care Assistant, you’ll play a key part in delivering this valuable service. Your day-to-day duties will include:

  • Supporting the preparation of the Day Centre and welcoming clients.
  • Helping to plan and deliver fun and meaningful activities, entertainment and guest speakers.
  • Serving refreshments and home-cooked lunches.
  • Assisting with transport arrangements and helping clients settle in and return home safely.
  • Supporting volunteers and encouraging their involvement.
  • Ensuring the Day Centre is safe, clean and welcoming at the end of each day.
  • Handling small payments for meals or transport and maintaining simple records.
  • Occasionally assisting with practical support such as shopping or equipment delivery for clients returning home from hospital.

This is a hands-on, varied role that combines coordination and compassion.
