We are looking for passionate and caring individuals to connect and engage with our older clients across a range of activities in our Warnervale Day Centre and within our Community in North Central Coast. This is a highly rewarding and varied role assisting our Day Centre Coordinator in delivering an exceptional experience for our clients each time they visit, and supporting our Home and Community Clients remain independent at home.

Responsibilities

Day Centre

  • Welcoming clients on arrival to the day centre
  • Assisting in delivering group activities to be conducted at the day centre
  • Assisting in meal preparation
  • Engaging and connecting with our older clients and encouraging participation across a diverse range of activities
  • Personal care including assistance with toileting clients if required

Community

  • Providing a high standard of care that supports clients to achieve maximum independence by meeting daily living and personal requirements within individual care plans, and with consideration of individual preferences
  • Providing direct client care including assisting with personal hygiene, showering, dressing and toileting; to assisting with light housekeeping, meals service, mobility; and social support including shopping, respite care, and offering companionship
  • Promptly reporting any changes in client health status, observations and opportunities for improved wellbeing

To be successful in this role you’ll need

  • Have a genuine passion for providing high quality care to the elderly
  • Comfortable in delivering group activities.
  • Understanding of clients living with dementia.
  • To be comfortable interacting with a wide variety of people
  • Strong communication skills
  • To be a reliable team player
  • An understanding of workplace health and safety
  • Experience with dementia (preferred but not essential)
  • Certificate III in Aged Care or equivalent
  • A willingness to apply for a Police Check
