Direct Support Professionals care for and support adults with intellectual, developmental and physical disabilities in a daytime program environment. Working with a team, DSPs in a day habilitation setting support people served with daily living skills, personalized goals, arts and crafts, sensory activities, and accompany on outings in the community. AVAILABLE POSITIONS: Full-time Day Shift – Monday through Friday WHAT WOULD I BE DOING? Provides daily support and care to people with developmental, intellectual and/or physical disabilities, with daily living skills and other needs. Assists with planning daily activities and participating in small group activities. Encourage additional skill development in exciting community activity options. Utilize agency vehicles for community-based activities. Overall Assists with choice-making and encouraging independence. Assist with dining needs, including celebrating holidays and other special events Working in a team environment. Enjoying the opportunity to support others with achieving their personal goals. Documents all services accurately and timely. QUALIFICATIONS FOR A DSP: High School Diploma, or equivalent required. Valid NYS driver's license with a safe driving record Excellent communication skills. Has a willingness to learn new skills (we provide paid training).
