JOB OVERVIEW

The Head Injury Association is looking for a creative and dynamic individual to join our Day Program Team as a full-time Direct Support Professional (DSP) or Personal Care Assistant (PCA). HIA’s Social Model Day Program at our Cultural Arts Center (CAC) in Hauppauge supports individuals who qualify for the Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) and/or Nursing Home Transition and Diversion (NHTD) Waiver. Our focus is on maximizing independence, enhancing quality of life, and promoting socialization.
This role is not your typical DSP or PCA position! HIA’s CAC day program is fun and vibrant, making it ideal for those who are creative and outgoing. Please note that tasks such as toileting, transferring, SCIP, and medication administration are NOT part of this position. However, it is a fast-paced environment that requires a lot of energy. Throughout the day, staff members will facilitate a variety of activities, including group discussions, crafts, music sessions, exercise, games, and more. HIA’s CAC Day Program is a program you will enjoy coming to every day! As you get to know the individuals who attend the program you will learn how resilient and inspiring they are. This program is unique among other day programs in the area, therefore, it is a great way to expand your experience through working with individuals who have a brain injury, are elderly, or who have a chronic health condition.
