JOB SUMMARY

We are seeking a skilled and passionate Junior Sous Chef to join our friendly and dynamic team a Common Ground, a well loved north London brunch spot (as featured in The Nudge and The Modern House).
The ideal candidate will play a vital role in supporting the Head Chef in managing kitchen operations, ensuring high standards of food production and safety. This is a daytime-only role in a friendly, fast-paced kitchen that’s proudly meat- and fish-free. We’re an independent, values-driven business that cares about ethics, sustainability, and our people.

SKILLS

  • Proven experience in a restaurant or similar food production environment.
  • Strong supervisory and leadership abilities to manage a diverse team effectively.
  • In-depth knowledge of food safety regulations and best practices.
  • A positive, can-do team player with strong communication skills
  • Ability to work under pressure while maintaining attention to detail.
  • Strong organisational skills with the capability to multitask effectively in a fast-paced setting.
Responsibilities

You’ll play a key role supporting the Head Chef to run a smooth and dynamic kitchen. This role is ideal for someone with solid kitchen experience who’s ready for their next role.

  • Help lead the small kitchen team, ensuring smooth daily service and a positive team culture
  • Step up to take charge when the Head Chef is away
  • Maintain consistently high standards of food quality, hygiene, and presentation
  • Work cleanly and efficiently in a busy kitchen with lots of moving parts
  • Support stock control, supplier relationships, and kitchen systems
  • Ensure food safety and hygiene standards are always met
