OVERVIEW

We are seeking a dedicated and passionate individual to join our Daycare team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in providing a safe, nurturing, and engaging environment for children. This position requires a strong background in food service and culinary skills to ensure that nutritious meals are prepared and served to the children in our care. If you have experience in dietary departments, menu planning, or fine dining, we encourage you to apply.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Previous experience in dietary departments or as a dietary aide is preferred.
  • Background in meal preparation within a daycare, commercial or institutional setting is advantageous.
  • Strong culinary skills with knowledge of food handling practices and safety regulations.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment while maintaining a positive attitude.
  • Excellent communication skills to interact with children, parents, and staff members.
  • A passion for working with children and fostering their development through healthy eating habits.
  • Hold a valid food safe certificate.
  • Hold a maintain a clean and valid criminal record check done through Victoria (Vulnerable Sector).
  • Hold an ECEA certificate or be willing to take a 20 hour responsible adult course prior to starting.
  • Able to read, write and speak English fluently.

Responsibilities
  • Prepare and serve nutritious meals and snacks for children, adhering to dietary guidelines, established recipes and standards and food safety protocols.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen, following strict food handling protocols.
  • Meal preparation and cooking. Need to be able to demonstrate excellent knife skills.
  • Walking around with health inspectors as needed.
  • Manage inventory and produce shopping lists.
  • Ensure compliance with all food safety regulations and maintain proper documentation as required.
  • Engage with children during the designated classroom time (8:00 am to 9:00 am)
