Description

The Early Years Supervisor plays a pivotal role in supporting the well-being and development of children in a nurturing environment. This position involves overseeing care programs, ensuring that each child’s needs are met while fostering a safe and engaging atmosphere. The ideal candidate will have a passion for caregiving and early childhood education, with the ability to educate and inspire both children and their families.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • A minimum of an ECE certificate with at least 2 years of teaching experience will be considered.
  • Strong working knowledge of BC Early Learning Framework and current Childcare Licensing Regulations
  • Adaptable, positive, patience, punctual.
  • Ability to orient, instruct, and evaluate staff, students, and volunteers.
  • Valid First-Aid Certificate required.
  • A clean Criminal and Background Report including the vulnerable sector is required.
  • Excellent English verbal and written ability is required as well as exceptional listening skills.
  • And Indigenous person is preferred but not required.
  • Ability to work in a team geared, cultural and politically sensitive environment.
  • Ability to balance competing priorities, multitask, and to work under pressure.
  • Ability to be flexible and to work in an environment that applies cross training within other Departments.
  • Ability to maintain Confidentiality and abide by Cheam First Nations’ Policies and Procedures.
  • Knowledge, respect and understanding of Stó:lō culture, traditions and language is considered an asset.
  • Experience working with First Nations community is considered an asset.
Responsibilities
  • Responsible for setting up a plan for Programing and delivering that plan to ensure students are provided with the optimal amount of attention.
  • Lead, train, and supervise the security team, ensuring high standards of performance and professionalism.
  • Collaborate with the Communications Specialist to ensure the Monthly program plan is communicated appropriately.
  • Identify each child’s needs and create an individual plan for each Child.
  • Create lesson plans and coordinate field trips.
  • Create and deliver reports as required by the Health and Wellness Department.
  • Responsible for the health and safety of all children on site, and able to advise on better layouts, plans and alternatives to foster continued safety and educational experience for children.
  • Maintain an organized and clean classroom and environment and ensure safe setup and take down of educational materials.
  • Prepare budgets, variance reports, and manage departmental purchases.
  • Prepare and submit program reports as required.
  • Create meal plans for the week and communicate grocery lists to the Health and Wellness Administrative team for grocery order and pickup.
  • Liaison and update parents on progress of the children and calmly communicate concerns.
  • Update/re-stock inventories and other supplies as needed for the classroom.
  • Other duties as required.
