As we commence a new era of automation, innovation and restructure we are seeking an experienced Distribution Centre Manager to join our busy Sydney DC. The Sydney DC has recently undergone some major Goods-To-Person (GTP) and other automation enhancements to support ongoing growth and scale providing an opportunity to join one of Australia’s high growth private businesses.

Responsibilities

ABOUT THE ROLE

Reporting to the Logistics General Manager, the DC Manager will provide leadership, plan, drive, coordinate, and coach the logistics teams within our Sydney warehouse to ensure the safe and compliant distribution of our products ensuring service excellence to our customers through continuous improvement to ensure effective, efficient processes are maintained delivering on budget with a cost-conscious mindset.
This role also supports the Transport Manager in the running of a fleet of 40+ Drivers, both Company employed and Contractor.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead a Safe and Compliant workplace to meet standards of:
  • Chain of Responsibility
  • Dangerous Goods handling
  • Equipment checks
  • Manual Handling Techniques
  • Relevant workplace health and safety legislation and guidelines
  • Lead, coordinate and manage the workings of all departments; team members and drivers, including planning and monitoring of receipt, accurate inventory, order assembly, and dispatch of goods on a timely basis.
  • Drive and maintain the highest standards of operational excellence to give a great customer experience
  • Demonstrate an innovative mindset to achieve continuous improvement
  • Liaise with both internal and external stakeholders to provide service excellence at the best cost
  • Manage maintenance of equipment and machinery effectively to ensure compliance and quality alongside meeting budgetary targets and environmental objectives
  • Motivate, mentor and coach your team and subsequently their teams to ensure productivity targets are met
  • Encourage your teams to openly communicate, support collaboration providing feedback for development and in turn give reward and recognition
  • Develop a solid relationship with all team members and drivers supporting our GPTW – Great Place to Work model
  • Create a trusting relationship with your direct reports - Team Managers, Administrators, HSR’s
  • Adapt to seasonal & project related increases in volume and implement change with limited disruption

To qualify for the role, you must meet the following requirements:

  • Tertiary qualification in relevant field, desired but not essential,
  • 5 years’ experience in a similar role of warehousing and/or transport logistics
  • 15,000 sqm+ warehouse with automation
  • 80+ warehousing employees
  • 45+ fleet of drivers and vehicles
  • Excellent Relationship Management; COS internal, 3PL & Other key Business Partners
  • Strong planning, analytical and reporting capabilities
  • Good communication skill, encouraging collaboration and driving R&R
  • Commercial mindset and abilities to ensure budgets achieved
  • Experience of working with a Tier 1 WMS, ie: SAP, Manhattan, Mircorlistics
  • Ability to review and initiative continuous improvement.
  • Ability to work under pressure and lead change, with adapting priorities
