Description

Summary:
The Distribution Center (DC) Supervisor plans, administers, and supervises the warehouse workforce to complete daily warehouse activities and to meet daily productivity standards. This person ensures that a safe and healthy work environment is maintained. The DC Supervisor is responsible for load planning/scheduling shipments with carriers and coordinating internal requirements with management to support the customer’s delivery requirements. The DC Supervisor also oversees delivery scheduling and coordinates shipping and delivery schedules to obtain the most efficient use of resources.

Responsibilities:

  • Supervises distribution center employees to ensure daily shipping and receiving activities are completed
  • Audits outbound freight to ensure correct merchandise is being shipped
  • Controls the equipment inspection process to ensure the equipment is safe and in working condition
  • Inspects the warehouse fire equipment to ensure all regulations are met
  • Plans and executes projects as directed by the Regional Distribution Center Manager
  • Trains warehouse workers in regard to warehousing activities
  • Maintains accurate time keeping for warehousemen, and pre-authorizes overtime.
  • Plans, schedules, and supervises all dock and staging area activities
  • Works closely with inventory control to ensures inventory accuracy by monitoring product movements, confirming location usage and auditing inventory movement
  • Frequently audits warehouse activity to make sure all internal safety requirements are being met as well as OSHA guidelines are being followed by employees and anyone working on site
  • Load plan and schedule orders for timely pickup to meet the customer’s delivery requirements at the lowest possible freight cost
  • Monitors orders to assure all shipments are shipped within the 48 hour ship cycle
  • Provides carriers with information for timely pick up and delivery of orders
  • Analyzes orders for potential consolidation in order to reduce transportation cost
  • Ensures shipments meet required service levels and at lowest possible freight expense.
  • Monitor carrier performance and on time delivery
  • Bill/process shipments and complete all necessary paperwork for shipments and receiving and other tasks as requested by management
  • Accurately handle distribution and retention of documents insuring compliance with record retention requirements
  • Oversee Shipping and Receiving Admin’s processes and tasks

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Effective communication (written and verbal) skills

  • Ability to plan and manage multiple projects with attention to detail
  • Strong team player
  • Ability to read, write and communicate in English to the degree necessary to perform the job
  • Proficient computer skills and with Microsoft Office
  • Experienced forklift operator – multiple types of machines and multiple types of attachments is a plus

Education and Experience:

  • Two to three years of experience in warehouse operations and inventory control environment
  • Solid understanding of shipping and receiving processes are required
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • Experience with RF devices and a solid understanding of a WMS is preferred
  • Two to Three years experience supervising a diverse team in a fast-paced environment

Physical Requirements:

  • Standing 2-4 hours a day
  • Lift 20-49 lbs.
  • Computer use 6-8 hours a day
