Chemours is seeking a Maintenance Distributive Controls Technician to join our growing Maintenance team! This position will report directly to the Maintenance E&I Supervisor at our Fayetteville, North Carolina location.
The Distributive Control Systems Technician is responsible for all aspects of the Fayetteville Works Site Distributed Controls Systems, including control network administration and maintenance, to ensure safe, efficient, and reliable operations. This position will receive technical direction from a lead E&I / Process engineer and administrative guidance from Maintenance E&I FLL. This position demands a team player approach to project execution and daily DCS maintenance, with a focus on networking with all site DCS Technicians for knowledge leveraging and continuous learning and development.

Responsibilities
  • Assist with programming, configuration, design, and maintenance of electrical DCS (Distributed Control System) and related systems.
  • Assist with support of daily operational needs. After the training period, respond 24/7 to application support calls using approved tools, methods, and procedures.
  • Assist with analysis of COD (change of design) requirements, evaluation, and identification of detailed system modifications necessary to implement solutions.
  • Work closely with field engineers, maintenance technicians and Plant Operations to make appropriate interface and system modifications.
  • Work closely with technical and maintenance to verify interlock and alarm settings.
  • Work with E/I technicians to troubleshoot repair and calibrate instrumentation, maintain AMS and sitewide wireless network and wireless instruments as well as Process Control Systems.
  • Work with E/I techs on VFDs, SCRs, including HMIs.
  • Troubleshoot control loops with DCS interface.

The following is required for this role:

  • High School diploma or equivalent plus at least one of the following:
  • 3 to 5 years’ minimum experience in the field of Electrical Maintenance and/or Industrial Instrumentation
  • Associate’s degree, Journeyman’s Certification, NCCER or successfully completed vocational-tech program directly related to Instrumentation/Electrical Maintenance and Installation. Adequate relevant field experience may be considered.
  • 2 years of Electronic / Electrical Training or 2 to 5 years’ experience.
  • Requires extensive computer skills
  • Strong capability / experience reading and understanding drawings - single line, power, P&ID, Configuration logic, controls schematics, and ladder logic diagrams
  • Flexible, self-starter – work sometimes requires being available nights and weekend.
  • Strong communication skills (written and verbal).
  • Familiarity with Control Systems (have basic knowledge of control theory and control system components)

The following is preferred for this role:

  • Familiar with ABB Bailey Infi90, Siemens, Freelance, PLC, or equivalent DCS.
  • Familiarity with system tools: AMS (Asset Management System), PDM (Process Device Manager) or other system interface tools
  • Experience with relational databases such as Excel, Word, Access, SAP, directory structure filing system and / or strong desire / willingness to learn.
  • Experience with different communications protocols including Modbus, DP/PA, Hart, and calibration communicators and / or strong desire and willingness to learn.
  • Capable of learning to work with Computer Aided Design (CAD) systems.
  • Distributed Control System (experience with DCS or PLC/SCADA hardware and software or strong desire and willingness to attend training courses.
