Description Basic Function: Prepare and x-ray parts to an approved technique under the supervision of an RT Level 2 or 3. Must be familiar with customer specifications and required CM procedures. Salvage castings at the end of production process by removing any final flash, sand, metal, defects or other casting debris that is found in the x-ray process. Interact with welding department by preparing castings for weld repair. Understand the welding process, attributes necessary for successful welding, and support the welding department. Employee will interact with Final Inspection and Quality departments learning about scrap, disposition, and analyzing repetitive clean-up and making suggestions for continuous improvement. Physical Requirements: Maximum Lift Weight 50 # Maximum Push/Pull Weight 100 # % Of Time Sitting 10% % Of Time Standing 90% Exposed to Severe Weather Conditions: No Responsibilities: Accurate scanning in and out of jobs and the proper reporting of processed quantities. Wear proper safety equipment; keep work area clean and safe at all times. Understand customer requirements, our company’s internal scrap challenges, rework, customer returns, the impact they have on your job and demonstrate ability to deliver quality & efficient workmanship. Review & inspect all material being used, building self-inspection into everything you make/process. Complete, date, and sign-off on all routing information. Perform job tasks in an efficient manner according to given standards. Become familiar with C.M. Procedures M13 Marking and SP 402 (1-5) DDA and traveler tickets Sort parts by melt, dash, or serial numbers. Verify quantities and welded castings according to route tickets. May remove flash, sand, metal, defects, or other debris from castings. Serialize parts per C.M. procedure and serialization instructions on traveler tickets and log books. X-ray parts to an approved technique and C.M. procedure SP402. Ability to inspect and analyze casting for visual defects, making repairs or scrapping decisions Removing flash, sand, metal, defects or other debris from castings; prepare castings for welding Ability to review work instructions, detailed inspection plans, weld maps & blueprints to determine whether casting meets final specifications before passing to next work phase. May perform and verify calibrations. Communicate with X-Ray, Final Inspection, and Quality, communicating visual defect patterns and suggesting continuous improvement ideas for elimination of defects; interact with welding department in preparation of welds, understanding the welding process, attributes necessary for successful welding and supporting the welding department when time avails. Report any problems or discrepancies to immediate management. Provide oversite to x-ray trainees by verifying and signing off on all x-ray shots. Perform other related duties as assigned.
