The Controls Project Manager is responsible for overseeing and managing the planning, execution, and successful completion of building automation and controls projects. This role is pivotal in coordinating resources, managing timelines, and maintaining our high-quality standards.

REQUIRED SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s degree in project management or equivalent training and experience in a similar field.
  • 4+ years of project management experience in the HVAC controls industry.
  • Extensive knowledge of heating, ventilating, and air conditioning systems, control systems, building automation, electrical systems, energy management, engineering, installation, management, and construction procedures.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and willingness to accept responsibility and accountability.
  • Experience reading and interpreting mechanical and electrical drawings.
  • Strong communication, presentation, training, and technical writing skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, WebCTRL, AutoCad, and various operating systems.
  • Proven track record of completing jobs on schedule and achieving full customer satisfaction.
Responsibilities
  • Create and maintain a comprehensive project plan including budget, timeline, materials, and resources.
  • Direct the pre-construction planning process, accurately scope length and difficulty of tasks, develop schedules, anticipate and adjust for problems and roadblocks.
  • Procure and coordinate materials, equipment, and subcontractors to maximize project profitability.
  • Read, review, and follow project related documents such as contracts, blueprints, drawings, project scope, budgets, deadlines, and sequence of operation for proper execution.
  • Serve as the primary escalation point for project risks and scope changes, facilitating solutions and plan adjustments as necessary.
  • Maintain clear communication with all stakeholders including customers, subcontractors, and internal teams.
  • Lead weekly internal and customer-facing project meetings. Prepare and deliver presentations on project status and outcomes.
  • Ensure all projects are managed in alignment with proposals, specifications, and customer expectations. Provide input and recommendations to the sales team to enhance estimation accuracy.
  • Coordinate all project closeout requirements including graphics, start up, punch list, O & M manuals, as-builts, etc. Conduct owner training as required. Coordinate all warranty requirements with the service department.
  • Develop strong relationships with the customer’s on-site management team so that we are requested to return for additional work. Participate in sales activities with assigned customers in order to procure work.
  • Responsible for project cash-flow management: progress billing, collections support and monitoring, and resource management.
  • Ensure that all project documentation is up to date and accurate, including project scope, plans, specifications reports, and other project-related documents.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
