The Dealer Finance Representative plays an important role in procuring new members for Sydney Credit Union by cultivating relationships with local dealerships (auto, RV, etc.) and providing them with competitive financing options for their customers. Attaining new members through the dealer program is part of Sydney Credit Unions member growth strategy and taking ownership of the member experience for our new members is an equally important role of the Dealer Finance Representative. We are looking for a self-motivated, ambitious person with an entrepreneurial mindset, who can confidently build great relationships, and establish trust, both with our members as well as our local business partners. To complement their interpersonal skills, the Dealer Finance Representative should be keenly interested in learning and expanding their knowledge of all the products and services offered at Sydney Credit Union. This will enable them to successfully engage with our new members and align our offerings with their needs. The Position: Reporting to the Relationship Manager (Vacant), the Dealer Finance Representative will be responsible for: Establishing and maintaining a strong relationship with our business partners locally, as well as our members, by adopting a holistic approach towards managing their overall financial well-being while upholding Sydney Credit Union’s reputation and brand. Ensuring our business partners are kept up to date on all relevant information required to send referrals including rate matrix, reserve payments, etc. Collaborating with our business partners to understand their challenges and competitive offerings, and updating the Relationship Manager with recommendations to ensure Sydney Credit Union remains a competitive preferred financing partner. Taking ownership of the member and business partner experience, ensuring they have a clear understanding of the features and benefits of the products and services recommended to them. Analyzing credit information necessary to approve credit in compliance with internal policies and procedures. Verifying applicant’s credit worthiness by obtaining credit bureaus, contacting employers, existing and former creditors, and personal references, and approving or declining credit within approved lending limits, or referring to the next higher approving position level with recommendations. Compiling lending package and establishing loan and/or mortgage structure with applicant, including rates, terms, repayment options, and other credit terms, while educating the member on debt management best practices. Ensuring loan and/or mortgage agreements are complete and accurate according to policy and regulatory requirements, and security in place prior to the disbursement of the funds. Proactively reaching out to the members, discussing their evolving financial goals, providing individual financial counseling and cross selling on the benefits of utilizing other credit union products and services, making referrals to partner providers as required. The Dealer Finance Representative will be the first point of contact and will initiate collection of arrears on delinquent loans. Approving loan payment extensions and substitution of loan securities. Participating in credit union promotions, special member, and community events. Assisting and backing-up other team members and completing other duties as assigned. The Person: The successful candidate will have successfully completed a one or two-year business administration course plus have three to five years related experience and/or training in a financial services institution; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. The incumbent will also demonstrate the following: Ability to utilize strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively manage member expectations. Demonstrated ability to build trust and maintain long-term relationships. Demonstrated ability to build a network of referrals within our community for business development. Passion for learning and expanding knowledge towards personal development. Strong time management skills with the ability to prioritize their agenda coupled with a high attention to detail. Motivation to actively participate in and contribute to the measurable success of in-branch campaigns. Knowledge of lending and wealth management. Knowledge of financial accounting and financial principles and policies within a regulatory environment. Demonstrated proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office applications. Proven ability to perform basic mathematical calculations, with or without a calculator. Initiative, enthusiasm and a keen understanding and commitment to nurturing member relations would be essential attributes of the successful candidate. A confident and competent person who is a positive influence on their co-workers, sharing their financial knowledge to help others develop. A self-starter who can see opportunities and find solutions with the proven ability to meet and exceed business/sales objectives. *Due to the nature of this role, continuous availability and a high degree of flexibility to support dealers during operating hours is essential. Employees will continue to receive their breaks and lunch as outlined in the Collective Agreement; however, break and lunch timing may be scheduled or coordinated to ensure uninterrupted service to dealers throughout the day.
