Description

We are looking for an experienced Dealership Accountant to join our accounts team at our Ford Leeds site, overseeing accounts for one of manufacturer partners. Here you will be involved in the day to day running of the finance team, supported by an accounts assistant, reporting on all aspects of the dealership including Bodyshop, rental and corporate departments. You will report to the Group Financial Controller.
About the business
Our business started over 60 years ago and has been in the same family ever since. From our very humble beginnings, we have grown to be in the top 50 car dealers in the country. Across our 26 businesses we have a stable workforce of over 600 people, many of whom have been with us for years. We are always on the lookout for nice, genuine people who genuinely care about our customers and have a can do attitude.
Our recruitment philosophy is that we recruit for attitude and train for skills, which means that although we’re often looking for specific technical skills, if you like working with customers and you are attracted by our Family Values of Fit, Fun, Family and Fearless, you’ll fit in well here and we’d like to hear from you even if you have no experience of the automotive industry.
We’ll expect you to work hard, but in return we’ll offer you an industry leading package and a real opportunity to progress: we prefer to promote from within and you will see this in everyone of our sites. You must possess an outrageous ambition to want to be the best and you won’t let anyone stop you.
About you
The ideal candidate will have experience within the motor trade, and will have worked as an Accountant, or as a confident and experienced Assistant Accountant. Ideally, you will have excellent communication and the ability to work collaboratively with and influence Dealership Principal. We are looking for a candidate who has either an accounting qualification or is qualified by experience. Candidates will have experience in working with Pinnacle DMS and will also be proficient in Microsoft Excel.

The role will oversee all aspects of the finance function including:

  • Preparing the management accounts and composites to submit to the manufacturers
  • Overseeing all aspects of financial reporting, compliance and accounting processes including sales and purchase ledger to ensure payments are made, and debts promptly chased and paid.
  • Supporting the dealerships management team to ensure timely and accurate reporting, while looking to identify trends and remedy issues.
  • Ownership of the sites balance sheet, ensuring it is consistently reconciled and maintained.
  • Coach and train junior members of the accounts team.

What we offer

  • A workplace pension scheme.
  • Competitive salary.
  • World-class training provided from our own trainer and our brand partners.
  • 30 days annual leave inclusive of 8 bank holidays, with average commission paid during your annual leave.
  • Preferential rates for servicing and repairs on your family and friend’s cars.

We are an equal opportunity employer. We are committed to creating an inclusive environment for all employees and do not discriminate on the basis of race, ethnicity, gender, age, national origin, religion, disability or other characteristics.
