As Western Australia’s first and leading university, UWA brings passion, energy and insight to teaching, learning, and research, generating life-changing outcomes.
Our valued industry connections, innovative courses, commitment to our student experience and high-impact research, place us in the world’s top 100 universities. We are a proud member of the Group of Eight (Go8) universities.
The School of Engineering at UWA is one of the leading Engineering Schools in Australia. Located in Perth, the School is multidisciplinary, offering education and research in a wide range of engineering disciplines, including biomedical, civil, environmental, mining, chemical, mechanical, electrical and electronic, and automation and robotics.
    The Opportunity
The Dean and Head of the School of Engineering will provide outstanding academic, strategic, and operational leadership to advance the School’s performance across student experience, learning and teaching, research excellence, and external engagement. You will play a pivotal role in furthering the mission of both the School and the University, while embodying and promoting the University’s core values.
You will lead with vision and integrity, motivating and developing staff, fostering a culture of high performance and collaboration, and demonstrating a strong commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion. Building meaningful relationships with external stakeholders, including government, industry partners and professional bodies, will be central to your success.
Reporting directly to the Senior Deputy Vice-Chancellor, the role operates with a high degree of autonomy. The School is strong in many areas and further growth opportunities exist. Joining UWA will place you at the forefront of excellence, where you can challenge convention and create a legacy.
    The Person

You will demonstrate exceptional leadership and strategic vision, with prior operational management for an organisational unit delivering research and teaching activities, such as a department or school.
You will have a track record of developing partnerships with industry, government and the profession, as well as a commitment to mentoring the next generation of leaders and progressing diversity, equity and inclusion.
