Responsibilities

ABOUT THE ROLE:

VIT is currently seeking a senior academic leader to provide disciplinary leadership in Information Technology and Systems (ITS), with responsibility for overseeing the delivery of ITS courses across all modes—online and face-to-face. The appointee will report directly to the Executive Dean.
The successful candidate will lead the academic development, delivery, and quality assurance of VIT’s ITS courses, including the Bachelor of Information Technology and Systems, Master of Information Technology and Systems, Graduate Certificate and Graduate Diploma in Information Technology and Systems, and the Diploma/Advanced Diploma in Information System Studies. These programs are delivered to both domestic and international students across multiple campuses and delivery modes.
The role also plays a key part in academic governance and external compliance activities, including course accreditation, re-accreditation, provider re-registration, and ACS professional accreditation and re-accreditation of relevant programs.

A highly competitive remuneration package, commensurate with the quality of experience, employment record and qualifications, will be negotiated with the successful candidate. Remuneration may also include relocation support where appropriate.
For suitably qualified international candidates, VIT may consider sponsoring and funding visa application fees, subject to sponsorship approval by the Australian Department of Home Affairs.

ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Providing academic leadership in the design, delivery, and continuous improvement of ITS courses (MITS and BITS), ensuring high-quality, industry-aligned, and student-centred curriculum.
  • Leading the development of new undergraduate and postgraduate courses, including coursework and research qualifications, in alignment with strategic priorities and market demand.
  • Overseeing academic operations, including study plans, timetables, staffing, and academic integrity across all delivery modes and locations.
  • Leading course innovation and quality assurance initiatives, including online and asynchronous delivery models, course monitoring, external moderation, and accreditation (TEQSA, ACS).
  • Mentoring academic staff, fostering contemporary teaching practices, and embedding scholarly and pedagogical development into curriculum delivery.
  • Engaging with industry, alumni, and professional networks to enhance WIL opportunities, graduate outcomes, and the relevance of course offerings.
  • Participating in academic governance, committee leadership, and strategic planning to support institutional goals and uphold compliance with the Higher Education Standards Framework.
  • Responsible for successful conduct of various Industry events, alumni and Graduation ceremonies planned by VIT.
  • Undertake teaching duties in ITS courses as required or directed by the Executive Dean.
  • Any other responsibilities as directed by the COO, the CEO and in particular under the instruction of the Executive Dean in relation to academic operations, staffing and workload allocation.
