POSITION SUMMARY This role, in close collaboration with the PVC (Vietnam), DVC (COBL), COBL staff, other School Deans (in Vietnam and Melbourne), and academic and professional communities will lead strategic initiatives aimed at expanding RMIT Vietnam’s and COBL’s teaching, research and innovation impact in Vietnam and the Southeast Asian region. As a senior leader for RMIT Vietnam and for COBL, this role will champion a culture of impact through the delivery of high-quality programs, innovation in teaching and learning, research quality, partnerships and engagement, and the development of academic staff. The Dean will be a senior academic with a strong international standing who will lead the next phase of RMIT’s Knowledge With Action strategic plan. The Dean will lead high level engagements with relevant industries, government departments and represent RMIT Vietnam and COBL in public events to ensure the School remains well connected to the community. The Dean will bring a strategic mindset to take the School to the next level of evolution in line with strategic direction including the ability to build people capability and talent pipelines and foster strong connections with staff across RMIT’s many locations. Key Accountabilities summary Provide strategic and academic leadership in line with RMIT’s strategy and objectives. Executive leadership as member of the RMIT Vietnam Executive Leadership Team and of the COBL College Executive working within a collaborative framework. Effectively manage the profile, financial and physical resources of the School, through developing, implementing and monitoring effective financial and business plans for the School. Ensure continuous improvement of School's learning and teaching activities including relevance, viability, quality of its academic programs and courses. Develop appropriately skilled and motivated staff within the School through recruitment, fostering a culture of excellence, teamwork, staff development, and continuous improvement. Lead School efforts to enhance quality of teaching, student experience and employability of graduates. Drive development of blended and online learning initiatives and solutions. Lead the academic staff in the School, including oversight of recruitment, staff profiling, diversity and inclusion and career development. Key Selection Criteria Educational Background: A PhD in a relevant field. Experience: Proven successful senior leadership experience in an academic role, with distinguished academic achievements across teaching, research and engagement. Leadership Skills: Proven ability to lead and manage diverse teams (academic and professional staff), with excellent organisational and strategic planning skills. A passion for developing staff and building a culture of continuous innovation and excellence. The capacity to initiate, lead and manage change in a challenging and dynamic environment while striving to achieve strategic objectives. Innovative teaching and learning: Demonstrated experience of fostering a culture of academic excellence to provide quality, student-centred, learning and teaching environments that represent international leading practice. Understanding of innovative pedagogies including blended, online and block-modalities. Research Excellence: Demonstrated success in enabling research excellence with a focus on research impact through government, industry and academic partnerships.
