Description
Description Position Summary The Deburr Associate is responsible for finishing precision-machined aerospace components by removing burrs, sharp edges, and surface imperfections in accordance with engineering drawings, customer specifications, and internal quality standards. The role directly supports production throughput, part integrity, and compliance with aerospace manufacturing requirements (e.g., AS9100, customer specs). Requirements Key Responsibilities Perform deburring, edge-breaking, blending, polishing, and cosmetic finishing on machined aerospace components using hand tools, pneumatic/rotary tools, files, abrasive pads, stones, and specialized deburr instruments. Review engineering drawings, work orders, routers, and specifications to determine required finishing processes. Ensure compliance with dimensional and surface-finish requirements. Inspect parts visually and dimensionally (as required) to verify proper burr removal and confirm conformance to customer/internal quality standards. Identify surface defects, tool marks, or nonconformities; escalate issues to Quality or Production leadership when deviations arise. Maintain strict adherence to aerospace quality and documentation requirements, including traceability, part marking, and accurate completion of shop travelers or digital work records. Collaborate with machinists and quality inspectors to resolve finishing challenges and support continuous improvement of part quality and process efficiency. Follow all safety procedures, including proper use of PPE, safe handling of chemicals, abrasives, and powered tools. Maintain a clean and organized work area aligned with 5S and lean manufacturing principles. Support throughput and production targets by effectively prioritizing workload and maintaining consistent productivity. Qualifications 1-3 years’ experience in aerospace required Previous experience in deburring, finishing, or related precision manufacturing work; aerospace manufacturing experience strongly preferred. Ability to read and interpret blueprints, GD&T symbols, and work instructions. Strong manual dexterity and attention to detail for fine-precision work. Working knowledge of aerospace materials (e.g., aluminum, titanium, stainless steel, Inconel) and how they respond to different finishing processes. Familiarity with quality systems such as AS9100 (or equivalent) is preferred. Ability to use basic inspection tools (calipers, micrometers, comparators, microscopes). Strong work ethic, dependability, and ability to meet production deadlines. High school diploma or equivalent required. Physical Requirements Ability to sit or stand for extended periods. Frequent use of hands and wrists for detailed manual work. Ability to lift up to 35 pounds as needed. Use of magnification equipment, microscopes, or lighting systems for detailed inspection.
