DECONTAMINATION TECHNICIAN

Location: Oriel Drive, Aintree, Liverpool, L10 6NJ
Start Date: ASAP
Contract Duration: 2+ Months
Working Hours: Mon – Fri, 09:00 – 17:00, 37 Hours per week

Responsibilities

The primary purpose of this role is to assist in providing an effective equipment loan service to disabled individuals of all ages, including children, to help them maintain their health and independence. Key responsibilities include:

  • Ensure the safety of clients and staff by correctly cleaning all community equipment service equipment to maintain safety and integrity, reduce micro-organism harboring, and prevent cross-infection.
  • Adhere to infection control guidelines to minimize the risk of cross-infection from contaminated equipment.
  • Assist drivers in unloading collection vehicles, report defects and damages, and ensure correct serial numbers of collected equipment using a handheld barcode scanner.
  • Disassemble and thoroughly decontaminate all returned equipment daily, following manufacturers’ instructions and infection control policy guidelines.
  • Maintain the cleanliness of the decontamination area, adhering to decontamination unit procedures, health & safety guidelines, and C.O.S.H.H. regulations.
  • Ensure a correct stock of cleaning supplies and report any items needing reordering.
  • Keep designated walkways clear and ensure safe access to the stores holding room and decontamination room.
  • Perform daily cleaning and weekly deep cleaning of the decontamination area, ensuring the holding room is locked at the end of each day.
  • Wear correct P.P.E daily as per cleaning procedures.
  • Conduct stock takes of equipment within the decontamination unit and stores area as directed.
  • Participate in mandatory and specialist training applicable to the decontamination unit.
  • Cooperate and assist in tasks to ensure the smooth running of the service.
  • Respond to visitors returning equipment as necessary.
  • Carry out other duties as requested by the Stores supervisor within the general character and grading of the post.
  • Contribute to risk management by participating in risk identification, assessment, and control exercises.
  • Take reasonable care for personal health and safety and that of others affected by work activities.
  • Promote and monitor the effectiveness of health and safety arrangements, suggesting improvements where necessary.
