JOB SUMMARY

We are looking for talented and hard-working individuals with demonstrable commercial experience or transferable skills, to join us in providing a full Contract Management service for Defence Academy across a full spectrum total facilities management environment.
The Defence Academy Contract Management Team manages the portfolio of contracts that sit within the Defence Academy (DefAc) which continues to develop as an Intelligent Client Function.
The main purpose of the DACI contract is to ensure that the Defence Academy Integrator C0ntract is delivered within the performance, cost and time parameters specified in the contract in order to enable Defence Academy to produce its outputs for Defence. The candidate will be responsible for the DACI CM will have line management responsibility for one team member.

JOB DESCRIPTION

This role involves the pro-active monitoring, control and management of all activities necessary to ensure that contract for supply delivers the goods, works or services as laid out in the contract.
The role takes a lead in governing the development and implementation of contract variations from requirement identification, SOR development, business case approvals and negotiation in conjunction with Finance, Programme and Budget SME, through to final delivery and integration into existing services.
The Defence Academy Contract Management Team manages the portfolio of contracts that sit within the Defence Academy (DefAc) which continues to develop as an Intelligent Client Function.
The role is responsible for ensuring that the contract is delivered within the performance, cost and time parameters specified in the Contract.

Relationship management:

  • Stakeholder engagement at multiple levels of authority and various departments as part of the day-to-day running of the facilities management.
  • The post holder will co-ordinate activity with the other DefAc Contract Managers and Commercial team to ensure cohesive and comprehensive bi-lateral activities.
  • Undertake line management, mentoring and countersigning tasks as required by the role. This role has 1 direct report.
  • Undertake learning and development and up-skilling as required.

    Performance Management:

  • Monitoring performance against the Key Performance Indicators and obligations matrices.

  • Assessing Contractor compliance in delivering their obligations.
  • Where appropriate use the mechanisms within the contract to address areas of poor performance.
  • The post-holder will work to ensure a seamless transition for programme and project scheduling and amendments to the contract.
  • Provide support to Asst Hd Contract Management & the Contract Designated Officer to support effective planning and senior decision making.
  • Identify and adopt best practice in Contract Management where appropriate.

QUALIFICATIONS

It is highly desirable that the successful candidate has a GCF Foundation Contract Management qualification - although can be gained within 3 months of being in post.

Where business needs allow, some roles may be suitable for a combination of office and home-based working. This is a non-contractual arrangement where all office-based employees will be expected to spend a minimum of 60% of their working time in office, subject to capacity and any required workplace adjustments. Requirements to attend other locations for official business, or work in another MOD office, will also count towards this level of attendance. The post does not offer relocation expenses.
External recruits who join the MOD who are new to the Civil Service will be subject to a six-month probation period.
