JOB DESCRIPTION

We are looking for a Business analyst to join us and be at the forefront of delivering sustainable change through leveraging cutting-edge technologies like Agile Data Science, Machine Learning, and AI to enable machine-ready data for exploitation to meet critical information, business, and operational challenges.
You will have the opportunity to develop an integrated view of the Defence data demand, value, and opportunities, providing expert guidance on advanced data science methodologies.
You will cultivate strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, challenging the status quo and leading the way in data excellence.

Where business needs allow, some roles may be suitable for a combination of office and home-based working. This is a non-contractual arrangement where all office-based employees will be expected to spend a minimum of 60% of their working time in office, subject to capacity and any required workplace adjustments. Requirements to attend other locations for official business, or work in another MOD office, will also count towards this level of attendance. Applicants can request further information regarding how this may work in their team from the Vacancy Holder (see advert for contact details). Defence Business Services cannot respond to any questions about working arrangements.
The post does not offer relocation expenses (move of home, excess fares or temporary transfer). Non Standard move applicants will be eligible for the full package, subject to eligibility.

External recruits who join the MOD who are new to the Civil Service will be subject to a six-month probation period.

Responsibilities

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Work with delivery team across Defence Digital to formulate hypotheses to test in service design phases to deliver to user needs. Provide data to inform benefits realisation information that will support business change and continuous improvement.
  • Analyse business requirements and user needs related to all aspects of the product or service and define acceptance criteria for development work Ensure outcomes are aligned with the service vision and strategic objectives by contributing to the link between current and future business models.
  • Contribute to the definition and prioritisation of user stories and to the definition of precise problems for investigation.
  • Support business process re-engineering. Identify areas for improvement, explore feasible options, analyse the effects of change and define success measures. Identify areas where transformational value can be added from application of new data approaches and support to realise the value, including machine ready and analytics and artificial intelligence enablement.
  • Apply proven communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills to ensure that the team’s plans and objectives are achieved. Collaborate and lead effective communication with all stakeholders.
  • Actively champion standardisation, coherence, use of information and spearhead for a digital culture, through education, training, across a set of stakeholders and their programmes
