JOB DESCRIPTION

Join Defence Digital as a Senior DevOps Engineer and become part of a team that delivers automated software components forming part of our development operations toolchain. In this pivotal role, you will transform technical requirements into DevOps processes, build complex stories independently, manage live test environments, and identify and resolve issues that prevent delivery.
As a Senior DevOps Engineer, you will operate at a level requiring significant technical autonomy and leadership. Your primary responsibility involves transforming complex technical requirements into robust DevOps processes that enhance our software delivery capabilities.

TECHNICAL SKILLS

  • Prototyping

HYBRID WORKING

Where business needs allow, some roles may be suitable for a combination of office and home-based working. This is a non-contractual arrangement where all employees will be expected to spend a minimum of 60% of their working time in office, subject to capacity. Requirements to attend other locations for official business, or work in another MOD office will also count towards this level of attendance. The post does not offer relocation expenses.
External recruits who join the MOD who are new to the Civil Service will be subject to a six-month probation period.

  • Strong technical proficiency in designing, developing, and testing complex programs and systems, with a keen eye for identifying and resolving faults.
  • A deep understanding of information security principles and the ability to embed security controls into solutions from the outset.
  • Experience in process optimisation, including identifying inefficiencies and implementing improvements to enhance development workflows.
  • Familiarity with modern standards approaches and the ability to apply these principles to practical work.
  • Excellent collaboration and communication skills, with a proven ability to engage with stakeholders, gather user needs, and translate them into effective solutions
